America's Next Top Model: Cycle 11 Scoop and
Spoilers
Wednesday, June 18, 2008

This fall,
America’s Next Top Model
will unveil its 11th season on the CW network. It may be one of the last
seasons to feature
Tyra Banks as the host of the
wildly popular reality show. Back in March, OK magazine reported that
Banks was thinking of leaving the show, due in part to a rift between her
and
Jay Manuel. “It’s gotten so bad
that Tyra and Jay aren’t speaking,” an insider told the magazine. While
Tyra figures out her future, the show must go on and cycle 11 is well
underway. This week, thanks to superfans and superspies, the international
destination was revealed along with some other juicy tidbits!
A Top Model fan came
across judge Paulina Porizkova while waiting in line at JFK International
Airport in New York City. It turns out that she was waiting to board KLM,
a Dutch airline company. This comes on the heels of photos that surfaced
on the internet of Tyra Banks and the final 5 cycle 11 models in
Amsterdam. Security for America’s Next
Top Model did their best to stop fans and press from taking
pictures but a few lucky ones snapped a photo and put them online.
This is a departure from the usual number of models that head on the
international destination. Tyra usually brings along the final 6 but the
fact that she is only bringing 5 suggests a possible double elimination.
According to several Top Model
blogs, international go-sees will also make a return for cycle 11.
It is also being reported that, while in Amsterdam, the final 5 models
will participate in a photo shoot with pieces from renowned jewelry
designer, Rodrigo Otazu. Otazu has worked with the best of the best in the
fashion and entertainment world. He has provided pieces for runway shows
for everyone from Christian Lacroix to Jean-Paul Gaultier. He has also had
his jewelry worn by celebrities such as Britney Spears and Aretha
Franklin.

Meet the first man of bling |

From
Vogue.com, June 22, 2004
IF
you need a bit of bling but your bank account is far from Beckham-esque,
Rodriguez Otazu is the man you need to befriend. Based in Amsterdam, the
Argentine designer first hit the fashion conscious when he collaborated
with Christian Lacroix for his autumn/winter 2003 haute couture
collection. Now, his fabulously glittering portfolio is a favourite of the
likes of Kylie Minogue, Britney Spears (who wore Otazu earrings when she
draped herself in a snake for the MTV Music Video Awards), Justin
Timberlake and Pink. And Otazu proved himself a true fashion superstar in
May when he celebrated his latest collection with a party in an airport
bunker in Amsterdam. Grace Jones turned up to sing, models in flimsy
dresses and enormous sparkling jewels carefully navigated a revolving
catwalk and, with clouds carrying more jewels projected on to three of the
four walls, Otazu's guests found themselves in fashion heaven. "My aim is
to give men and women all over the world something to dress up for," says
Rodriguez, who already enjoys A-list status in his hometown. "I want to
dress everybody up again and give them an excuse to party." (June 22 2004,

OTAZU featured in VOGUE.COM
Story - 7/03 |
|
From
Vogue.com, July 25, 2003:
RODRIGO OTAZU is
one of the jewellery world's hottest names du jour. Based in
Amsterdam, the Argentian designer first burst onto the fashion scene
by way of
Christian Lacroix's couture catwalk earlier this month. "Rodrigo
had always regarded Mr Lacroix as something of a fashion god," says a
rep. "So he approached him and insisted that they would make a great
team. And they did." Lacroix gave Otazu an image of a hand
throwing up sparks as his inspiration and the result was 15 intricate,
sparkling creations that wrapped around the models' faces and were
just as breathtaking as the clothes themselves. And since Otazu has
already worked to create one-off designs for the likes of Robbie
Williams, Pink, Justin Timberlake and Kylie Minogue, we can expect to
be seeing a lot more of him. . .

The Three Musketeers:
A Jewelry Sensation
|
March 2003.
COSTUME DESIGNER
VAN TAX AND JEWELRY DESIGNER OTAZU having the time of their lives
designing for the new musical, The Three Musketeers.
The best money could buy. Five hundred lavish costumes from the top
designer Yan Tax and 150 pieces of literally breathtaking jewelry from the
Argentinean Otazu, the jewelry maker for Britney Spears and Madonna.
Add to that the spectacular decors, lighting tricks and acting and
singing talents of the largest musical cast ever in Holland. The
mega production of The Three Musketeers is going to have the world
premiere on March 30th in Rotterdam in the new Luxor Theatre. The costume
and jewelry designers have been working for two years dressing the cast.
The producer wanted perfection and he got it. When he was watching a
tryout scene yesterday, his eye noticed several ladies in the first row.
They were staring with gaping mouths at the jewelry the cast was wearing.
Rodrigo Otazu found this to be one of his most inspiring assignments.
After Holland, they plan to bring The Three Musketeers to Germany,
England and Broadway.
